About the Role

We are seeking a talented CAD Designer with 3-4 years of hands-on mechanical design experience to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the full spectrum of drone hardware design, from airframes and core components to protective enclosures. You will collaborate closely with our electronics, manufacturing, and field teams to bring designs from concept to flight-ready hardware.

Location: Kannambra, Palakkad, Kerala Work Mode: Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop drone airframes and structural components, balancing weight, strength, and aerodynamic performance.
  • Design core drone components, including arms, frames, mounts, landing gear, propulsion mounts, and other structural/mechanical parts.
  • Design enclosures for electronic components, batteries, payloads, and other onboard systems, considering thermal management, weatherproofing, vibration isolation, and ease of access.
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings with proper GD&T.
  • Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes (CNC machining, 3D printing, sheet metal, composites) based on application requirements.
  • Perform basic design validation, including fit checks, tolerance stacking, and load/stress considerations, and iterate based on test feedback.
  • Support prototype builds and hands-on assembly of drone units and sub-assemblies.
  • Collaborate closely with electronics, manufacturing, and field testing teams to resolve design-integration issues.
  • Maintain organized CAD libraries, revision control, and design documentation.
  • Support BOM creation and coordinate with vendors/fabricators for part sourcing and production.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3-4 years of experience in mechanical/product design, ideally in drones, aerospace, robotics, or a related hardware field.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
  • Experience designing enclosures with attention to thermal, EMI/weather sealing, and serviceability considerations.
  • Working knowledge of materials commonly used in UAV design (composites, aluminum, engineering plastics).
  • Comfortable with hands-on prototype assembly and troubleshooting fit/build issues.
  • Ability to produce clear, manufacturing-ready drawings and documentation.
  • Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with electronics and production teams.
