Data Protection Specialist (Netskope DLP)

About the Client Our client is a leading global professional services and consulting organization with a strong presence across assurance, consulting, tax, deals, risk, and technology services. The organization works with large enterprises and multinational clients on complex business and technology transformation initiatives.

This role is part of a client-facing cybersecurity/data protection function, where the selected professional will work closely with security teams, data owners, platform owners, and other stakeholders to implement and optimize enterprise-grade Netskope Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Protection / Netskope DLP professional with strong hands-on expertise in implementing, configuring, managing, testing, and tuning enterprise DLP controls using the Netskope platform.

The ideal candidate should have practical experience designing DLP policy architecture, creating custom detection logic, tuning policies to reduce false positives, and taking controls through the complete Monitor → Pilot → Tune → Enforce lifecycle.

As this is a client-facing position, excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills are essential. Candidates should be confident in explaining technical DLP concepts and security requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Implement, configure, and manage Netskope DLP policies across enterprise environments. Design and maintain Netskope DLP policy architecture, including classifiers, profiles, rules, and enforcement actions. Develop and maintain custom DLP detection logic using: Regex Fingerprinting Exact Data Match (EDM) Indexed Document Match (IDM) Document-type rules File-name patterns Design DLP controls to protect proprietary, confidential, sensitive, and intellectual-property information. Perform DLP policy testing and validation across different business scenarios. Conduct false-positive analysis and iteratively tune policies to improve detection accuracy. Manage DLP controls through the complete Monitor → Pilot → Tune → Enforce implementation lifecycle. Translate business requirements and sensitive-data definitions into appropriate technical DLP classifiers and detection rules. Configure appropriate enforcement actions based on business and security requirements. Troubleshoot DLP policy issues and improve detection effectiveness. Document technical configurations, testing results, tuning decisions, implementation procedures, and operational runbooks. Collaborate directly with data owners, security operations teams, DLP platform owners, and business stakeholders. Explain DLP policy behavior, technical limitations, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders. Support integration of DLP events with SIEM and incident-response workflows, where applicable. Contribute to continuous improvement of enterprise data protection and information security controls.

Mandatory Experience & Technical Requirements 5–7 years of experience in DLP, Data Protection, Information Security, or Security Operations. Hands-on Netskope DLP implementation experience. Experience implementing Netskope DLP in at least 1–2 enterprise projects. Strong understanding of Netskope DLP architecture. Hands-on experience with classifiers, profiles, policies, rules, and enforcement actions. Strong practical experience with custom DLP detection logic. Hands-on experience with Regex, Fingerprinting, EDM, IDM, document-type rules, and file-name patterns. Experience with DLP policy testing and validation. Strong experience in false-positive analysis and policy tuning. Experience managing the complete Monitor → Pilot → Tune → Enforce lifecycle. Ability to convert business data-protection requirements into technical DLP policies. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Excellent client-facing communication skills.

Highly Preferred Experience designing DLP controls for confidential, proprietary, financial, customer, or intellectual-property data. Experience with broader Netskope SSE/SASE capabilities, particularly CASB and SWG. Experience integrating Netskope DLP with SIEM/security monitoring platforms. Experience documenting DLP configurations, test cases, tuning decisions, and operational runbooks. Strong understanding of enterprise data classification and information-protection frameworks. Exposure to other DLP platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Forcepoint, or Symantec DLP. Familiarity with ITIL-based operational processes. Relevant Netskope certifications such as NCCSA are an advantage. Security certifications such as Security+, CISM, or CISSP are an advantage. Communication & Client-Facing Expectations Excellent verbal and written communication is mandatory. Candidates should be comfortable interacting directly with clients and business stakeholders. Ability to explain complex DLP concepts in a clear and structured manner. Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into practical security controls. Strong stakeholder collaboration and presentation skills. Average communication skills will not be suitable for this role.
