About the Role

we are calling applicants on behalf of Our Client, a global software solutions provider headquartered in Cochin, an experienced Database Engineering Lead with extensive expertise in database systems and practical experience in application and production environments. This role is crucial for ensuring the availability, performance, security, reliability, and scalability of our database systems, supporting critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, maintain, and optimize enterprise database systems.
  • Ensure database availability, performance, security, backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery readiness.
  • Troubleshoot complex database and production issues and support root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with application, development, infrastructure, and production support teams.
  • Support database deployment, migration, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Implement database monitoring, automation, capacity planning, and operational best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with database security standards and organizational policies.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for critical production systems.
  • Manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, including failover validation, backup/recovery strategies, and production support for OLTP workloads.
  • Execute database migration and upgrade activities, encompassing planning, validation, performance assessment, and cutover support.
  • Perform strong database performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing strategies, monitoring, and troubleshooting in high-volume environments.
  • Implement database security controls, auditing, access management, encryption, and compliance-driven operational practices.
  • Leverage Linux and infrastructure administration experience to complement database platform management and automation.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 10-15 years of relevant experience in Database Administration and Management roles.
  • Database Platforms: Strong expertise in enterprise database platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Environment Experience: Proven experience supporting application and production environments.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery, replication, and high availability.
  • Tools & Processes: Experience with database migration, upgrades, automation, and monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Critical Issues: Ability to manage critical production issues in high-availability environments.
  • Behavioral Competencies: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Certifications: Mandatory certifications must be acquired as per the Industrial Certification Policy of the company.

Preferred Skills

  • Linux and infrastructure administration experience complementing database platform management and automation.
