About the Role

A Graduate Trainee Programme in Software Engineering is a structured 12-month journey designed to take you from campus knowledge to production-ready engineer. Unlike internships, these are permanent roles from Day 1 — you are a full employee with a salary, benefits, and a clear growth path. You will rotate through different teams, receive mentorship from senior engineers, attend structured learning sessions, and graduate from the programme as a confirmed Junior Software Engineer. These programmes exist at large IT service companies, mid-size product firms, and select startups — and they are one of the best career launchpads available to fresh engineering graduates in India.

Programme Structure (Typical)

  1. Month 1–2: Induction, company orientation, tech bootcamp (programming fundamentals, tools, frameworks)
  2. Month 3–6: First team rotation — assigned to a real project with a senior mentor
  3. Month 7–9: Second rotation or deepening in primary tech stack
  4. Month 10–12: Independent contribution, performance review, and confirmation as Junior SWE

✅ Must Have

  1. B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech / MCA — CS, IT, ECE, or related engineering discipline — 2024 or 2025 pass-out
  2. Proficiency in at least one programming language — Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, or C#
  3. Basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, OOP, and DBMS
  4. Ability to learn quickly, take feedback, and work in a structured team environment
  5. CGPA 6.5+ (most companies have a minimum cut-off — check individual JDs)
  6. No active backlogs at time of joining

⭐ Nice to Have

  1. Internship experience — even 1–2 months of real software work
  2. Personal or college projects hosted on GitHub
  3. Exposure to cloud, DevOps tools, or CI/CD pipelines during college
  4. Competitive programming participation (Codeforces, CodeChef, LeetCode)
  5. Strong communication skills — ability to present and explain technical work
