Job Role: Technical Business Analyst – Global Data Solutions

Job Location: Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi, Trivandrum

Overview

The Technical Business Analyst will play a key role within the Global Data Solutions team, acting as the bridge between technology and investment business functions. The role focuses on driving the data platform strategy, delivering business-aligned data solutions, and ensuring measurable value across the Asset & Wealth Management ecosystem. The ideal candidate combines strong investment domain knowledge with hands-on technical expertise in data analysis, integration, and visualization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Partner with investment, operations, and technology teams to deliver data-driven solutions supporting portfolio management, client reporting, compliance, and regulatory initiatives.
2. Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications, data requirements, user stories, process maps, and workflow documentation.
3. Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to design end-to-end data flows across front-, middle-, and back-office systems.
4. Analyse large datasets across clients, portfolios, transactions, and market/reference data to identify trends, data quality gaps, and optimization opportunities.
5. Develop and maintain data dictionaries, data lineage, metadata documentation, and governance artefacts.
6. Define data quality rules, controls, and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy of portfolio, market, and client data.
7. Use SQL and data visualization tools to validate business logic, perform impact assessments, and present insights to senior leadership.
8. Support UAT planning, execution, issue resolution, and user training for data-centric programs.
9. Facilitate workshops to capture business pain points, data challenges, and automation opportunities.
10. Serve as the primary liaison between business teams and technology groups, ensuring clear communication, prioritization, and delivery of data products.

Required Skills & Experience

1. Strong domain expertise in Asset & Wealth Management products (mutual funds, equities, fixed income, structured products, derivatives).
2. Understanding of portfolio management, client onboarding, trade lifecycle, performance reporting, and compliance frameworks.
3. Proven experience in stakeholder management, requirements gathering, and workshop facilitation.
4. Hands-on proficiency in SQL, data analysis, and working with structured/unstructured investment data.
5. Experience in data modeling, data governance, master/reference data management, and data quality frameworks.
6. Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and API-based data integration.
7. Working experience with Power BI / Tableau for dashboards, analytics, and data visualization.
8. Exposure to regulatory frameworks (MiFID II, ESG, SFDR, BCBS 239) within asset management.
9. Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert complex data flows into clear business insights.
10. Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
2. Experience in Agile delivery environments.
3. Knowledge of data management tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica) is a plus.
