Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and ownership of high-scale, distributed systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, AWS, and Kafka, and will play a key role in building event-driven, cloud-native platforms.

This role involves driving engineering excellence, system scalability, and performance optimization, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions.

Modern backend roles in this space typically focus on building scalable microservices, integrating cloud services, and handling real-time data using Kafka-based architectures

Key Responsibilities

1. Architect, build, and own high-scale distributed services
2. Design and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka
3. Define and manage API standards using API Gateway
4. Develop scalable, resilient, and high-performance services
5. Own technical decisions, system design, and service health metrics
6. Lead code reviews and enforce engineering best practices
7. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
8. Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and Leadership teams
9. Drive improvements in system reliability, observability, and performance

Required Skills & Experience

1. 8+ years of experience building production-grade backend systems
2. Strong expertise in:
3. Java (Java 11+)
4. Spring Boot framework
5. Microservices architecture
6. Hands-on experience with:
7. Kafka in high-throughput environments
8. REST API design and development
9. Strong experience with:
10. API Gateway and API lifecycle management
11. Expertise in AWS services such as:
12. DynamoDB, EKS, SQS, Lambda, S3
13. Proven experience with:
14. High-volume, distributed systems
15. Performance tuning and debugging
16. Strong system design and problem-solving skills
17. Ability to independently drive complex technical initiatives

Domain Requirement

1. Experience in Payments / FinTech domain (preferred)

Good to Have

1. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release automation
2. Knowledge of caching strategies and data modeling
3. Exposure to system optimization and scalability patterns

Education Qualification

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or any relevant discipline

SEPS (Scalable Engagement Platform Services) is a core platform designed to deliver consistent, scalable, and personalized user engagement experiences across digital ecosystems.

The platform supports multiple consumer-facing applications by providing shared backend services, integrations, and platform capabilities.

This role will be part of the SEPS engineering team, focused on building cloud-native, high-performance, event-driven systems using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, API Gateway, and AWS.
