Lead Software Engineer - Backend (Java & Python) Location: Pune, India Experience: 8+ Years Employment Type: Full-Time Work Model: Onsite Hybrid (as applicable) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer - Backend (Java & Python) to design, build, and optimize scalable, high-performance backend systems and APIs. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on expertise in Java and Python, deep exposure to cloud platforms, and experience working with large-scale, data-driven applications. This role involves technical leadership, architecture ownership, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver production-grade solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Python Build and optimize Java-based APIs for large-scale data processing Ensure high performance, scalability, reliability, and security of backend systems Architect, deploy, and manage backend services on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and engineering best practices Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, and data teams to deliver production-ready solutions Take ownership of critical backend components and guide technical decision-making Mentor engineers and drive code quality, reviews, and standards Required Skills & Qualifications 8+ years of backend software development experience Strong proficiency in Java and Python Proven experience building scalable APIs and data-driven applications Hands-on experience with cloud services and distributed systems Strong understanding of microservices architecture, databases, and API performance optimization Excellent problem-solving and system design skills Nice-to-Have Skills Experience with Spring Boot, Flask, or FastAPI Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI CD pipelines Exposure to Kafka, Spark, or other big data streaming tools Experience working in Agile or product-centric environments Why Join Us Lead development of high-scale backend platforms with real business impact High-ownership role with architectural influence Opportunity to work with modern cloud and distributed technologies Strong growth path into Principal Engineer Architect roles
