About the Role

We are seeking applicants for a leading well established product engineering and software development company, a Linux Platform Software Team Lead to guide a team of Linux platform software engineers. This role is crucial for the design, development, and continuous enhancement of the Linux userspace platform for our next-generation connected security and access control products. You will be responsible for the Linux platform architecture, creating reusable system services, middleware, and microservices that serve as the foundation for multiple products. This position involves defining interfaces between the operating system, hardware, cloud services, companion MCUs, and product applications, while also mentoring the team and coordinating technical activities across the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of Linux Platform Software Engineers.
• Platform Architecture: Design and maintain the Linux userspace architecture, developing reusable platform services and software components shared across multiple products.
• Platform Services: Develop and maintain system services and microservices supporting configuration management, diagnostics, logging, security, OTA updates, cloud connectivity, event management, and rules processing.
• IPC & Integration: Design and implement robust inter-process communication (IPC) using technologies such as D-Bus, gRPC, Unix Domain Sockets, shared memory, and message queues. Integrate platform services with embedded Linux, companion MCUs, cloud services, and product applications.
• Software Design & Development: Develop modular, multithreaded, event-driven software with a strong focus on scalability, maintainability, performance, and reliability.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership across hardware, BSP, application, cloud, and system architecture teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Planning & Reviews: Plan software activities, perform architecture/design reviews, and ensure software quality.

Requirements

• English – high proficiency.
• 3+ years of technical leadership experience leading a Linux software or platform team.
• 8+ years of experience developing Linux userspace applications, middleware, or distributed software systems.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
• Extensive experience developing Linux system services and systemd-based applications.
• Experience designing microservice-oriented or service-oriented software architectures.
• Strong knowledge of IPC mechanisms, including D-Bus, gRPC, Unix Domain Sockets, shared memory, and message queues.
• Experience developing multithreaded and event-driven applications.
• Experience with configuration management, logging frameworks, diagnostics, OTA update mechanisms, cloud integration, REST APIs, and MQTT.
• Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure software design principles.
• Experience with Git, CMake, Linux development environments (Debian SDK, Yocto or similar), and modern software engineering practices.
• Strong analytical, architectural, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience developing Java-based embedded applications or OSGi-based systems.
