About the Role

Occupational Therapists are on the UK Government's Shortage Occupation List — meaning Indian OTs are eligible for fast-tracked visa sponsorship and reduced visa fees. This is one of the clearest and most well-supported pathways for Indian allied health professionals to build a career in the UK. OTs are also growing in demand in Germany and across Gulf healthcare systems as the focus on rehabilitation and quality of life expands.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assess clients' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning and develop OT intervention plans
  2. Work with patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, orthopaedic surgery, mental health conditions, learning disabilities, and palliative illness
  3. Carry out functional assessments, home visits, and environmental modifications
  4. Recommend and arrange adaptive equipment and assistive technology
  5. Deliver therapeutic activities to improve daily living skills, work readiness, and quality of life
  6. Work across hospital, community, and social care settings
  7. Maintain clinical records and contribute to MDT care plan reviews
  8. Support discharge planning and community reintegration of patients

✅ Must Have

  1. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) from a recognized Indian institution
  2. Minimum 2 years of post-qualification OT experience — hospital or community
  3. IELTS 7.0+ or OET B for UK | IELTS 6.5+ for UAE | German B1+ for Germany
  4. Strong functional assessment and clinical reasoning skills
  5. Experience across at least one OT specialty area — physical rehab, mental health OT, paediatric OT, or community OT

⭐ Nice to Have

  1. HCPC registration (UK) — in progress or complete
  2. MOT (Master of Occupational Therapy) from a recognized institution
  3. Sensory Integration, Hand Therapy, or Cognitive Rehabilitation certifications
  4. Paediatric OT experience — extremely valuable in both UK and Gulf
  5. German language B2+
  6. Experience with assistive technology, AAC devices, or wheelchair assessment
  7. Pre-departure OT adaptation training for UK practice
