About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lathe Operator to join our manufacturing team in Bangalore. This role is ideal for a professional with 2 years of experience in precision machining and metal fabrication. You will be responsible for operating manual and semi-automated lathe machines to produce high-quality components according to technical specifications and engineering drawings. The successful candidate will ensure production efficiency, maintain strict quality control standards, and adhere to all safety protocols in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain lathe machines to perform turning, facing, threading, and drilling operations.
• Interpret and analyze engineering blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials on the machine.
• Monitor machine performance during operation to ensure precision and make necessary adjustments to feed rates and speeds.
• Perform regular quality checks on finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, and calipers.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all equipment is lubricated and serviced according to the maintenance schedule.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and report significant equipment malfunctions to the maintenance department.
• Adhere strictly to workplace safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements (Must-Have Skills)

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Lathe Operator.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, including turning, facing, and threading.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges.
• Understanding of metal properties and appropriate cutting speeds and feeds.
• Experience with manual lathe operation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks related to machine operation.

Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience with CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathe operation and programming.
• Knowledge of G-code and M-code programming.
• Familiarity with ISO quality management standards.
• Certification in Machining or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Experience with other machine shop equipment such as milling machines or surface grinders.
• Basic computer literacy for logging production data.
