About the Role / Position Summary

We are calling applicants on behalf of a widely recognized organization known for executing large-scale infrastructure and construction projects. As a QS Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects by managing the legal and financial terms between developers and contractors. Applicants from Kerala and Malayalam speaking preferred.

Responsibilities

  1. Contract Administration: Manage the legal and financial terms between the developer and contractors, including drafting contract conditions, interpreting clauses, and managing the formal closeout of accounts.
  2. Bill of Quantities (BoQ) Management: Prepare and maintain the BoQ, a detailed list of work items, materials, and labor, ensuring all project changes (variations) are accurately reflected for pricing.
  3. Progress Valuation & Certification: Conduct monthly on-site measurements of work completed by contractors, certifying these amounts to ensure the developer only pays for verified, quality-compliant work.
  4. Variation & Change Management: Assess the financial impact of any design or scope changes during construction, negotiating "variation orders" with contractors to prevent unfair cost escalations.
  5. Material Reconciliation: Track the actual consumption of materials (e.g., steel, cement) against theoretical estimates to monitor wastage and ensure procurement stays within budget.

Requirements / Qualifications

  1. 2-3 years of relevant experience in a QS Engineer role
  2. Strong understanding of contract administration, BoQ management, and progress valuation
  3. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  4. Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills

  1. Proficiency in BE Civil
  2. Strong knowledge of construction laws and regulations
  3. Experience with variation and change management
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
