Job Title SAP DMS Consultant Experience 5–8 Years Location India / Offshore Engagement SAP S/4HANA Implementation / Rollout

Job Summary We are looking for an experienced SAP Document Management System (DMS) Consultant with 5–8 years of hands-on experience to support SAP S/4HANA implementation and rollout projects. The consultant will be responsible for the end-to-end design, configuration, integration, testing, deployment, migration, and support of SAP DMS solutions. The role requires strong functional expertise in SAP DMS and the ability to work closely with business stakeholders, SAP functional teams, ABAP developers, integration teams, technical teams, and end users. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing effective document lifecycle management, document storage and retrieval, version control, authorization, document classification, workflow/status management, and integration with SAP business objects.

Key Responsibilities SAP DMS Implementation & Configuration Lead and participate in SAP DMS requirement-gathering sessions and Fit-to-Standard workshops. Design, configure, test, and deploy SAP DMS solutions in SAP S/4HANA environments. Configure Document Types, Document Info Records (DIR), Document Statuses, Status Networks, Number Ranges, Object Links, Document Originals, Authorization Groups, Classification, and Document Attributes. Define document lifecycle processes covering creation, modification, approval, release, versioning, and archival. Configure document version management and status-controlled document release processes. Configure and maintain document relationships with relevant SAP business objects. Ensure DMS configuration aligns with business processes, security requirements, and SAP best practices. SAP DMS Integration Configure and support DMS integration with SAP business objects including: Material Master Equipment Functional Locations Bills of Material (BOM) Production Orders Process Orders Purchase Orders Projects WBS Elements Support integration of SAP DMS with SAP PLM, MM, PP, PM/EAM, PS, and other relevant S/4HANA modules. Work with technical and integration teams to define interface requirements and resolve integration issues. Coordinate with ABAP teams for enhancements, reports, workflows, forms, interfaces, and custom developments. Content Repository & Document Storage Configure and support SAP Content Server and/or external content repository solutions. Support document storage, retrieval, archival, and repository integration. Troubleshoot document storage and retrieval issues. Ensure appropriate authorization and access controls for business documents. Document Migration Support migration of documents from legacy applications, file systems, shared repositories, and other document management solutions into SAP DMS. Define document migration strategy, mapping rules, templates, validation criteria, reconciliation processes, and mass-upload approaches. Perform data validation and reconciliation during migration. Support mock migrations, migration testing, cutover activities, and production migration. Ensure migrated documents are correctly linked to SAP business objects. Functional Specifications & Technical Coordination Prepare detailed functional specifications for DMS enhancements, interfaces, workflows, reports, forms, and integrations. Translate business requirements into functional and technical requirements. Work closely with ABAP, integration, security, basis, and other technical teams. Review technical solutions and support defect resolution. Participate in design reviews and solution validation. Testing & Deployment Prepare and execute unit test scenarios and test scripts. Support SIT, UAT, regression testing, defect resolution, cutover, go-live, and hypercare activities. Coordinate with business users and key users during testing. Analyze defects and provide functional solutions. Support go-live readiness and production deployment activities. Documentation & Training Prepare configuration documents, functional design specifications, process documentation, test scripts, test evidence, and user guides. Develop end-user and key-user training materials. Conduct knowledge-transfer and training sessions. Maintain accurate project documentation throughout the implementation lifecycle. Production Support Provide post-go-live SAP DMS support and troubleshooting.

Resolve issues related to: DIRs Document types Status networks Object links Document originals Classification Authorizations Content repositories Document versioning SAP DMS integrations Participate in hypercare and stabilization activities. Identify recurring issues and recommend process or configuration improvements.

Required Skills & Experience 5+ years of hands-on SAP DMS experience. Experience in at least 2 end-to-end SAP implementation or rollout projects. Strong hands-on SAP DMS configuration experience. Experience working on SAP S/4HANA implementation/rollout projects.

Strong knowledge of: Document Info Records (DIR) Document Types Document Statuses Status Networks Version Management Object Links Classification Document Originals Number Ranges Authorization Management Experience with SAP Content Server or comparable external content repository solutions. Strong understanding of SAP DMS integration with PLM, MM, PP, PM/EAM, PS, and other SAP modules. Experience with document migration, mapping, validation, reconciliation, and mass upload activities. Ability to prepare detailed functional specifications. Experience working with ABAP and integration teams. Experience across SIT, UAT, cutover, go-live, and post-go-live support. Good understanding of SAP Activate methodology and SAP implementation lifecycle. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Skills SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud / Public Cloud Edition experience. Experience with SAP Fiori applications related to document management. Knowledge of SAP Engineering Change Management (ECM). SAP PLM process experience. Experience integrating SAP DMS with external engineering or enterprise document management systems. Understanding of SAP S/4HANA Clean Core principles and extensibility approaches. Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or asset-intensive industries. Knowledge of SAP cloud-based document management and repository integration approaches. Project Lifecycle Experience

The candidate should be comfortable working across the complete SAP implementation lifecycle: Requirement Gathering → Fit-to-Standard → Solution Design → Configuration → Integration → Migration → Unit Testing → SIT → UAT → Cutover → Go-Live → Hypercare → Production Support

Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be a hands-on SAP DMS Consultant who has worked on multiple SAP implementation or rollout projects and possesses strong knowledge of DMS configuration, document lifecycle management, repository integration, business-object linking, document migration, and cross-module integration. Candidates should be able to independently manage DMS-related requirements while collaborating effectively with functional, technical, integration, and business teams.
