Job Description – Site Reliability Engineer (GCP & Jenkins CI/CD)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Jenkins (Declarative Pipelines). The ideal candidate will be responsible for building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, enhancing system reliability, and ensuring scalable, secure cloud operations across the full software development lifecycle.

This role requires a highly independent professional who can own deliverables, proactively solve problems, and continuously improve system resilience and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. CI/CD Engineering & Automation

  1. Design, develop, and optimize end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins (Declarative Pipelines)
  2. Automate build, test, and deployment workflows to improve release velocity and reliability
  3. Continuously enhance pipeline performance, scalability, and security

2. GCP Infrastructure & Cloud Operations

  1. Deploy, manage, and scale applications across GCP services, including:
  2. GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine)
  3. Cloud Run
  4. Compute Engine
  5. Cloud SQL
  6. Cloud Storage
  7. VPC
  8. Cloud Functions
  9. Ensure secure, optimized, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure
  10. Maintain and improve networking, storage, and compute configurations

3. Monitoring, Reliability & Performance

  1. Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions for infrastructure and applications
  2. Track and manage KPIs, SLIs, and system health metrics (availability, latency, performance)
  3. Automate system scalability and improve resiliency and efficiency
  4. Support pre-production readiness:
  5. Load testing
  6. Capacity planning
  7. Infrastructure design reviews

4. Incident & Lifecycle Management

  1. Engage across the full SDLC:
  2. Design → Development → Deployment → Production → Optimization
  3. Monitor production systems and ensure high availability
  4. Perform incident management, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  5. Implement automated, preventive solutions for recurring issues

5. Collaboration & DevOps Practices

  1. Work closely with development teams to integrate applications into CI/CD pipelines
  2. Ensure smooth deployment and operational workflows in GCP
  3. Maintain documentation of processes, configurations, and architecture
  4. Stay updated with evolving GCP services and DevOps/SRE best practices

6. Security & Compliance

  1. Ensure adherence to cloud security best practices and organizational policies
  2. Implement secure CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure controls

Mandatory Skills & Experience

  1. Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  2. Minimum 5+ years of experience as an SRE / DevOps Engineer
  3. Proven expertise in Jenkins (Declarative Pipelines)
  4. Strong understanding of CI/CD architecture and automation
  5. Experience with:
  6. Monitoring & logging tools
  7. Cloud scalability and performance optimization
  8. Ability to work independently and own deliverables end-to-end

Good-to-Have Skills

  1. Experience with Kubernetes (GKE)
  2. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  3. Exposure to Docker / containerization
  4. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Education

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT / Engineering or equivalent
