Senior Java Developer

About the Role

Knowledge Artisans is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join the team on a staff augmentation basis. This role reports directly to the Senior Software Architect and requires a high level of proficiency in Java and Spring Boot. The position is project-based, running from November 1, 2026, to March 1, 2027. Team members are expected to be available during U.S. working hours for daily stand-ups, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and production deployments. Outside of these core commitments, the role offers flexibility for local business hours, provided there is consistent daily code check-in and review activity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java and the Spring ecosystem.
• Collaborate with the Senior Software Architect to implement scalable solutions within an AWS environment.
• Participate in a weekly sprint cadence, contributing to all Agile ceremonies including planning, demos, and retrospectives.
• Manage database interactions, ensuring data integrity through proper transaction handling and SQL optimization.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive unit tests to ensure high code quality and system reliability.
• Execute automated backend testing and perform manual UI testing as required to support release cycles.
• Monitor system performance and health using observability tools to ensure production stability.
• Engage in daily code check-ins and peer reviews to maintain high standards of software craftsmanship.
