About the Role
We are seeking a results-driven Branch Manager to oversee our Gold Loan operations. In this role, you will be responsible for driving business growth, ensuring the integrity of gold appraisals, and maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio. You will lead branch activities, manage customer relationships, and ensure strict adherence to operational and risk management protocols. This position is ideal for a financial services professional with a strong background in secured lending and branch administration who is fluent in Malayalam and possesses deep knowledge of the local market.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new customer acquisition, loan disbursals, and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual business volume targets.
- Build and maintain a healthy, profitable gold loan book while keeping non-performing assets (NPAs) at a minimum.
- Manage timely loan renewals, interest collections, and oversee overdue/recovery follow-ups.
- Promote allied financial products, including insurance, gold coins, vehicle loans, fixed deposits (FD), recurring deposits (RD), and loans against property (LAP).
- Ensure accurate purity testing, weight verification, and secure appraisal of all pledged gold assets.
- Oversee daily branch operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and audit requirements.
- Manage and mentor branch staff to ensure high levels of productivity and customer service excellence.
Requirements (Must-Have Skills)
- Proven experience in Gold Loan operations or branch management within the financial services sector.
- Expertise in gold appraisal techniques.
- Expertise in gold purity testing.
- Expertise in gold weight verification techniques.
- Strong understanding of loan portfolio management.
- NPA reduction strategies.
- Proficiency in managing loan renewals.
- Proficiency in collection processes.
- Ability to drive business growth and meet aggressive sales targets.
- Experience in cross-selling financial products (Insurance, FD/RD, LAP, Vehicle Loans).
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Customer relationship management skills.
- Working knowledge of banking software.
- Working knowledge of branch administration tools.
- Fluency in Malayalam.
- Deep knowledge of the local market.
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
- Certification in gold appraisal.
- Certification in jewelry valuation.
- Prior experience in a retail banking environment.
- Prior experience in an NBFC environment.
- Strong analytical skills for monitoring branch performance metrics.
- Ability to handle high-pressure environments.
